Felt Up: Queer Erotic Tomfoolery
February 2010
Felt Up: Queer Erotic Tomfoolery was held at Studio 2507 on SE Clinton Street, Portland — just in time for Valentine’s Day. The show was comprised of two felt assemblage series, Felt Penis and de Flower. Each of the twelve art pieces were bright, campy, playful and rather punny.
In this exhibition, I aimed to examine socially constructed perceptions of gender inequality, calling attention to historical differences in language and characterizations of the sexes while disarming with humor.
Opening Reception
The opening reception was held on SE Portland’s First Friday Art Walk February 5th. Aaron Johnson and Joe Forsythe were on hand to film the reception and create a short observational documentary [4:49 min.].
